This process starts from cloning when they clone the repository it into their local machine. Since the user navigated to the repository because he/she is interested in the concept and they like to contribute. Step 1: Clone a Repository: The user starts from the upstream repository on GitHub.The process of forking and cloning usually follows the following route: Cloning a Git Repo without Fork Cloning is done through the command ' git clone' and it is a process of receiving all the code files to the local machine.įlow Process with Fork and Clone in GitHub Forking is just containing a separate copy of the repository and there is no command involved. It is a better option to fork before clone if the user is not declared as a contributor and it is a third-party repository (not of the organization).įorking is a concept while cloning is a process. So in that case, the changes made in the cloned repository are first pushed to the forked repository and then a pull request is created. If the user does not have write access, the only way to go is through the forked request. For this, the user must have the write access to the repository otherwise this is not possible. On the other hand, changes made on the local machine (cloned repository) can be pushed to the upstream repository directly. Pull request knocks the repository owner and tells that " I have made some changes, please merge these changes to your repository if you like it". Whereas, when you clone a repository, the repository is copied on to your local machine with the help of Git.Ĭhanges made to the forked repository can be merged with the original repository via a pull request. When you fork a repository, you create a copy of the original repository (upstream repository) but the repository remains on your GitHub account. Forking is done on the GitHub Account while Cloning is done using Git.To clear out the air from your mind, if you have any, let see how these two terms differ: What are the major differences between Forking and Cloning? Why cloning and forking are used interchangeably?.Workflow of forking and cloning on GitHub.We have created this tutorial just to focus on the difference and make you clear about these two concepts viz. People of an organization working on a repository do not generally fork the repository. Since first you need to fork before cloning, although forking does not come as a strict pre-step for cloning. Difference between Git Clone and Git Fork It is not surprising that people sometimes consider these terms as similar. Throughout these two tutorials about Forking in GitHub and Cloning in GitHub, the reader might have got confused with the two terms and the Difference between Git Clone and Git Fork.

The packaging copy of one edition of the Jenga game claims that Robert Grebler may have built the tallest Jenga tower ever at 40 2⁄ 3 levels. On November 5, 2020, Jenga was inducted into the National Toy Hall of Fame. Eventually, Hasbro became licensee in most countries around the world.īy 2019, according to Pokonobe Associates, owners of the Jenga brand, over 80 million Jenga games, equivalent to more than 4.3 billion Jenga blocks, had been sold worldwide. Irwin Toy licensed Jenga to Schaper in the United States and when that company was bought by Hasbro, Jenga was launched under the Milton Bradley banner in 1987. Pokonobe then licensed Irwin Toy to sell Jenga in Canada and to be master licensee worldwide. Convinced of Jenga's potential, Grebler had invited two cousins to form Pokonobe Associates with him in 1985 to increase distribution of Jenga. In April 1985, Grebler acquired from Scott the exclusive rights to Jenga for the United States and Canada, and then in October of that year, Scott assigned the worldwide rights in Jenga to Grebler, which he in turn assigned to Pokonobe Associates. In 1984, Robert Grebler, an entrepreneur from California who was the brother of a close friend of Scott, contacted her and expressed interest in importing and distributing Jenga in Canada. The V&A Museum of Childhood has exhibited one of the original sets of Jenga since 1982. The blocks of the first sets of Jenga were manufactured for Scott by the Camphill Village Trust in Botton, Yorkshire. Scott launched the game she named and trademarked as "Jenga" at the London Toy Fair in January 1983 and sold it through her own company, Leslie Scott Associates. A British national, Scott was born in Tanganyika, now Tanzania, where she was raised speaking English and Swahili, before moving to live in Ghana, West Africa. The name jenga is derived from kujenga, a Swahili word which means 'to build'. Jenga was created by Leslie Scott, the co-founder of Oxford Games Ltd, based on a game that evolved within her family in the early 1970s using children's wooden building blocks the family purchased from a sawmill in Takoradi, Ghana. The last player to complete a turn before the collapse is the winner. The game ends when any portion of the tower collapses, caused by either the removal of a block or its new placement. A turn ends when the next player in sequence touches the tower or when 10 seconds have elapsed since the placement of a block, whichever occurs first. A block may be touched or nudged to determine whether it is loose enough to remove without disturbing the rest of the tower, but it must be returned to its original position if the player decides to move a different one. Once a level contains three blocks, it is complete and may not have any more blocks added to it. Each player may use only one hand to touch the tower or move a block at any given time, but may switch hands whenever desired. Starting with the one who built the tower, players take turns removing one block from any level below the highest completed one and placing it horizontally atop the tower, perpendicular to any blocks on which it is to rest. A plastic tray provided with the game can be used to assist in setup. The blocks within each layer are oriented in the same direction, with their long sides touching, and are perpendicular to the ones in the layer immediately below. To begin the game, the blocks are stacked into a solid rectangular tower of 18 layers, with three blocks per layer. Blocks have small, random variations from these dimensions so as to create imperfections in the stacking process and make the game more challenging. Each block is three times as long as it is wide, and one fifth as thick as its length – 1.5 cm × 2.5 cm × 7.5 cm (0.59 in × 0.98 in × 2.95 in). Each block removed is then placed on top of the tower, creating a progressively more unstable structure. Players take turns removing one block at a time from a tower constructed of 54 blocks. Jenga is a game of physical skill created by British board game designer and author Leslie Scott and marketed by Hasbro. The paper itself that introduces raincloud plots comes with a “multi-platform tool for robust data visualization” which consists of a collection of codes and tutorials to draw raincloud plots in R, Python, or Matlab. Some examples for which I used raincloud or violin plots to explicitly highlight the distributions of the values. I always cover the topic in detail during my workshops and sometimes even specific sessions on the topic and I have regularly used raincloud plots for various occasions: during my PhD to show that the model fitting was appropriate across simulations ( code), as contribution to the #SWDchallenge to illustrate differences in temperatures in Berlin across months ( code), or as contribution to #TidyTuesday to visualize the distribution of bill ratios in brush–tailed penguins ( code and code): The use of other chart types such as violin and raincloud plots to show the distribution or even the raw data is a topic I am since years pretty passionate about. Here is a fun meme I made a few months ago when I encountered so–called “dynamite plots” in a paper I was reviewing (plus here is a reworked version with Shrek instead): And in contrast to the reviewer above, I argue completely opposite and always share my concerns in case bar charts or box plots are not suited to convey the study results. Since I am still working (part–time) as a researcher, I also regularly review scientific articles myself. Instead, raincloud plots combine several chart types to visualize the raw data, the distribution of the data as density, and key summary statistics at the same time. Raincloud plots were presented in 2019 as an approach to overcome issues of hiding the true data distribution when plotting bars with errorbars-also known as dynamite plots or barbarplots-or box plots. A suitable chart hybrid, consisting of a combination of box plots, violin plots, and jittered points, is called a raincloud plot. Quickly, people settled that (a) violin plots are not novel at all but were introduced 23 years ago and (b) providing an overview of the summary statistics and even the raw data itself might be a good addition. Is Windows Security seeing BitTorrent as uTorrent? There have been times when Windows Security will alert me about BitTorrent (uTorrent) being malicious when I HAVE NOT installed it yet.I would like to know if you download a program to your Desktop (folder) or Downloads (folder) but DO NOT install it can it do any harm to your computer? I've read it's recommended to download programs to desktop and install them from there is the desktop like a sandbox where nothing can harm your computer? I know some of this pertains to Microsoft Co. I've never downloaded uTorrent on my computer only BitTorrent. As you can see from the screenshot, Windows Security constantly flags uTorrent on my computer but the file path always leads to the BitTorrent program. On another note I was hoping somebody could answer a few questions I have as I am also including a screenshot of a Windows Security detection on BitTorrent. Let me start by saying when I excluded BitTorrent I did it first using "Allow File/Folder" then after it appeared again I used "Allow a website" since those were the object types that Malwarebytes had an issue with. However, P2P applications introduce security risks that may put your information or your computer in jeopardy. Peer-to-peer (P2P) applications, such as those used to share music files, are some of the most common forms of file-sharing technology. To do so, add BitTorrent to your exclusions using the method described under the Exclude an Application that Connects to the Internet section of this support article.įile sharing involves using technology that allows internet users to share files that are housed on their individual computers. Such connections are not a threat however, and you may exclude BitTorrent from the Web Protection component in Malwarebytes to stop the blocks from happening without compromising your protection (your web browser and other critical web facing programs will still be fully protected from malicious websites and other malicious content). This is because servers/IP addresses are often shared by multiple sites, so while what you are downloading through BitTorrent may be perfectly safe, some of the sites hosted on some of the IP addresses that BitTorrent connects to may be malicious. Thank you.Īs for why Malwarebytes blocked BitTorrent, this is because BitTorrent, and all torrent software, are what are known as Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications meaning it connects to many different servers/IP addresses (this is how files are downloaded through BitTorrent ) and because of this, sometimes BitTorrent will connect to a server that is also known for hosting malicious content.
